Associate Professor of Africana Studies UMBC Campus Open Until Filled
We seek an associate professor of Africana Studies with specialty in Public Health whose scholarship focuses on the exploration of health equity, race, social justice, community-engaged health promotion and interventions, and/or social and environmental health disparities and impact on vulnerable communities in the United States. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated records of excellence in applying interdisciplinary and intersectional approaches to scholarship and teaching related to the field of Africana Studies at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and a commitment to and record of advocacy on behalf of the field, and who have leadership potential to assume the headship of the department within a couple years.

Lecturer In Korean Language and Culture UMBC Campus
The Department of Modern Languages, Linguistics, and Intercultural Communication (MLLI) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for a full-time lecturer and coordinator in Korean Language and Culture, starting in August 2025. This is a three-year, non-tenure track position, renewable subject to demonstration of excellence in teaching and service. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching Korean language courses at all levels and Korean culture courses in English for expanding the Korean language and culture curriculum and serve as coordinator for the Korean program within MLLI.
Lecturer in American Studies UMBC Campus Open Until Filled
The Department of American Studies at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in American Studies, starting in August 2025. We seek a candidate with teaching experience in introductory American Studies courses with a specialization in at least one of the following areas or fields: Indigenous cultural studies, Black cultural studies, and/or critical mixed race or comparative race studies, or critical ethnic studies. The position involves teaching four courses per semester (eight total for the year) and service to the department. We seek a candidate who would be open to teaching large lecture courses for the department. The candidate will augment our department’s existing strengths in public humanities and ethnic studies.

Historian of Vast Early America UMBC Campus
The UMBC History Department seeks to hire a Historian of Vast Early America for a full-time tenure­ track position at either the Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor level. We are interested in identifying scholars whose work challenges traditional and conceptual boundaries and are especially seeking scholars whose work draws attention to the agency, humanity, and complexity of marginalized, enslaved, and indigenous peoples. Preference is for those who work on time periods prior to the late eighteenth century since we are looking to complement existing strengths in late eighteenth and nineteenth-century America. Subfields of interest include Indigenous or Native history, Caribbean, borderlands, environment, race, and ethnicity. We especially welcome applicants with experience and interests in Public History or the digital humanities. Assistant Professor - Media Studies and Data Analytics UMBC Campus Open Until Filled
The Department of Media and Communication Studies (MCS) at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship beginning in August 2025. We seek an interdisciplinary scholar with demonstrated excellence in teaching core media and communication studies courses at the undergraduate level. The successful candidate should have an active research agenda in media and cultural studies, broadly considered to include digital media platforms and industry studies, gaming, or film/tv. We are interested in a scholar who can teach undergraduates about data literacy, data visualization, or critical discourse analysis from comparative perspectives that may include transnational, diaspora, or transcultural media texts, broadly considered. Faculty Research Assistant Baltimore City Open Until Filled
The candidate will conduct research and development of a novel technology for in situ bioremediation of PCBs that employs PCB degrading microbes. Research techniques will include anaerobic and aerobic bacterial culturing, cryopreservation, scale-up in pilot-scale bioreactors, gas chromatographic analysis of organohalides and quantitative PCR. Training will be provided but laboratory research experience in microbiology is preferred. Candidate will also assist with lab management.
