Lecturer or Professor of the Practice in Music Technology

The Department of Music at UMBC seeks a well-qualified Lecturer or Professor of the Practice (Full-time) in Music Technology, to begin August 23, 2020. The successful applicant will have experience in commercial recording and in creative applications of music technology that could include contemporary composition, sound design, contemporary media including commercial composition. This position will be responsible for all first year courses for the music technology major (audio recording and editing), mentoring upper level required senior projects, and supervising internships. Individual must demonstrate required skills and aptitude for maintenance of music technology teaching spaces and recording studios. This position will have the opportunity to design new courses to broaden the curriculum, contributing to the growth of the major. Salary competitive. Masters required for a Lecturer, equivalent terminal degree professional experience required for Professor of the Practice; in each case with successful college or professional teaching experience or equivalent graduate-level training. Located in the heart of the Baltimore-Washington corridor, the Department of Music is a growing diverse and supportive community enrolling 120 undergraduate majors.
