The Department of Chemical, Biochemical and Environmental Engineering (CBEE) is part of The College of Engineering and Information Technology (COEIT) at UMBC. We currently offer a variety of degrees and certificates for undergraduate and graduate students, including a B.S. in chemical engineering with three tracks; traditional, biochemical and environmental. We also offer an M.S. and Ph.D. in environmental engineering, as well as an applied certificate program in biochemical regulatory engineering.

About the Position: |
General Requirements for the post-doc positions:

Doctorate in material science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry or related fields.
-
Ability to move to and work at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, USA.
-
Proven track record of first-author publications and presentations. A minimum of two peer-reviewed, first-author publications.
-
Proven experience with electrochemical energy storage or conversion systems.
Specific requirements for a post-doc position on mitigating chemo-mechanical instabilities:
-
Fundamental understanding of mechanics of materials, electrochemistry, and energy storage systems..
-
Proven track record in either computational or experimental approach to investigate chemo-mechanical instabilities in battery materials
-
Candidates with experience in QCM-D, acoustic measurements, or multi-scale modeling are especially encouraged to apply.
Specific requirements for a Post-doc position on developing gel/polymer electrolytes:
-
Fundamental understanding of polymer chemistry, material synthesis, electrochemistry, structural and surface characterizations.

Expertise in Polymer electrolyte synthesis and/or characterization of polymer electrolytes
-
Be familiar with electrolyte engineering methods, activation energy calculations, and the hydrogen evolution reaction analysis etc .
Salary Range: $54,000 - $57,000 commensurate with experience
The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
