About the Position:

The Department of English at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) seeks a full-time Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor for a one-year appointment beginning August 23, 2025. The successful candidate will teach a 4:4 load in first-year composition (ENGL 100), a required course focused on critical thinking, reading, and composing, with an emphasis on academic research and writing.

Candidates must hold at minimum an M.A. or Ph.D. in English, Composition and Rhetoric, or a closely related field, and have demonstrated experience teaching first-year composition.

The position offers a salary of $50,000.
